Leaders Club

A YMCA tradition, the Leaders Club is for youth ages 11-17. The Club provides the participant opportunities for learning, volunteering, physical fitness, socializing, taking trips and, of course, having lots of fun! This elite club prepares participants for college and the “real” world by helping them discover their leadership potential - all in an exciting, adventurous, Christian environment.

The Club meets once per month beginning Monday, September 21st from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the YMCA.

Leaders Club Projects:

Fall Carnival: Leaders get the chance to plan and help out at this annual October event held at the Kernersville YMCA.

Canned Food Drive: Benefits the Food Bank of North Carolina.  Leaders collect canned good up until November 20th.

Angel Tree Project: Members of the Kernersville community pick the name of a needy youth or senior from the Angel Tree and make a Christmas brighter.

Blue Ridge Leaders School: The YMCA Blue Ridge Leaders' School is an exciting "mountain top" experience for the teens in the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina Association. Each young person participates in trainings that enable them to develop skills to assist with building their self-esteem, leadership qualities, and teaching and performance talents. Teens also gain valuable information about the principles and philosophy of the YMCA Physical Education Programs. Our youth leaders will return to our YMCA with the knowledge and skills needed to volunteer in various program areas of the YMCA. They will also display a better understanding of the importance and value of volunteerism. The YMCA Leaders' Club & Blue Ridge Leaders’ School are an important YMCA program, not only because of their emphasis on the YMCA’s mission and purpose, but also because it develops our teens into future program and policy volunteers and future YMCA staff members.
